A brand new world record was established at Spring Fair today on the stand of licensed games and gifts specialist Palandone.

The challenge was to transfer as many ping pong balls from one bowl to another in 30 seconds using just a tea spoon.

Angie Bryant, a salesperson for Progressive Gifts magazine, demonstrated speed, hand-to-eye coordination, and a solid scoop and flick technique to top the leader board with 19 ping pong balls transferred – beating three other challengers who all managed 17 balls.

The attempt was witnessed by Graeme Deaves, an official adjudicator from Guinness World Records, and Paladone managing director Graeme Carr.

The world record success was part of a promotional drive by Paladone for an expanding range of licensed gifts and games under the Guinness World Record brand.

The first products in the range, launched last year, include toy stunt bikes and paper airplanes that teenage boys can play with in record-breaking-themed challenges. They will be joined this year by a football skills challenge, a stunt kite challenge and a grow the biggest sunflower gift pack.

Also new for the second half of the year are games aimed more at the adult party market, including the Ping Pong Challenge, Chopstick Challenge, Origami, Balloon Modelling and a Party Trivia game.
