Entrants will be able to nominate products that mark any of the key events taking place in Great Britain over the next year.
The Giftware Association has added a ‘Celebrating Britain’ category to its 2012 Gift of the Year Awards.
The award will recognise the best souvenir or specialist ‘British’ product which commemorates any key event taking place in Britain over the next 12 months, including the Olympics and the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee.
The GA is inviting companies with a great gift idea that places a forthcoming British event centre stage to submit nominations before the entry deadline on 15th December.

“This new category will provide a tremendous opportunity for those companies making souvenirs and other products which are particularly linked to Britain to get them in front of the widest possible audience,” said GA chief executive, Isabel Martinson.
If you are thinking of entering then Martinson notes that any product featuring event logos needs to comply with licensing laws.
“Clearly there are strong intellectual property issues around these events and particularly around the use of any aspect of the Olympic logo,” she said. “Anyone entering products specifically linked to the Olympics — or indeed any other event that requires it — will need to demonstrate to the Gift of the Year judges that they have the necessary licences in place,” she commented.
There are 17 categories in the Gift of the Year Awards, with the winners revealed in February.
